GlycoPlants
The N-glycan database to early detect Crop’s diseases and nutrient deficiencies

GlycoPlants is a project with the purpose of building up an Open Access database to store and share glycan retention properties of structures that are conditionally associated with plant stress caused by nutrient deficiency or crop’s diseases

Problem we focus on
Currently there is a negligible amount of open access Glycan attributes such as profiles available in the literature, (e.g only 4 glycan profiles detected in plant samples are published in the GlycoStore database, which is widely accepted in the field). That’s unfortunate, since glycosylation is very important in plant science considering that it can modify various biological functions of proteins, and affect growth, physiology, and development of crops. It seemed to be confirmed by our basic research in which we found statistical correlations between nutrient deficiency symptoms of crops and changes in suspected PCT-FNGs profiles based only on GU values, observed by CE-LIF.

As of current GlycoPlants consists: Suspected structures being linked to reactions to stress caused by nutrient (N) deficiency in plants based on our separation in tomato xylem sap; and exact GU matches consulted with GlycoStore.org; and Complex type free N-glycan detected mostly by HPLC (extracted from literature, please find DOI(s) in Reference column; and we periodically extract plant data (if any) from Glycostore.
